Position SummaryThe Welding Plant Supervisor (1st Shift 6:00 am‑2:30 pm) supervises activities of the Steel Fabrication‑Welding Team, which fabricates conveyor steel products for material handling projects. The supervisor oversees and organizes welding equipment and processes on the production floor.
Ideal Candidate- Legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship
- Must be available to work on‑site daily in Hobart, Indiana
- Must be available to work 1st shift hours 6:00 am‑2:30 pm
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions, formulas, and data analysis tools
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high‑quality output

- Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving, and analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration and reporting
Salary Range $70,000.00‑$90,000.00

- Lead the daily work of the team, including scheduling staff, planning and assigning work, implementing policies and procedures, and ensuring efficient workflow
- Direct employees in meeting quality and on‑time delivery requirements, address production challenges, and communicate issues to relevant managers
- Follow dispatch due dates and send reports with updates at the end of your shift to the plant manager and manager
- Partner with the production department in managing workflow and ensuring employees understand their responsibilities and delegated tasks
- Lead 6S improvements with the manager and direct employees to reach the goal of 90 points
- Provide technical guidance to team members and consult with other resources when needed
- Communicate with the manager regarding schedules and backlogs
- Assist the manager with selection and performance management of employees and recommending compensation
- Recommend equipment upgrades, staffing adjustments, improvements in procedures and working conditions, and process modifications
- Monitor employee productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching
- Give the team written and oral instructions
- Standardize procedures to improve efficiency
- Follow departmental policies, procedures, objectives, continuous improvement objectives, and safety rules
- Maintain timekeeping and attendance records for your groups using UKG
- Issue corrective actions for employees who are not adhering to company policies (safety, attendance, etc.)
- Ensure employees are progressing on training plans to achieve higher levels of performance and production
- Evaluate employee performance
- Be responsible for first‑line employee relations and resolution of issues within their departments
- Ensure employees comply with all requirements of Daifuku’s QMS policies and procedures
- Ensure sustainable process outputs that drive continuous improvement to provide leading industry performance and exceptional customer satisfaction
