Substitute Nurse
School City of Hobart is seeking substitute nurses for the school. Positions are filled on an as-needed basis. The role involves providing nursing services, health assessment, intervention, medication administration, and health office coverage in a safe and compliant school environment.
Key responsibilities include providing direct nursing services to students, implementing student health care plans, maintaining accurate health office documentation, communicating with parents or guardians, and implementing district procedures related to communicable disease prevention.
Qualifications include a current Indiana Registered Nurse license and CPR certification. Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and experience in pediatric, public health, or school nursing.
This position is scheduled on an as-needed basis and is not eligible for retirement or health insurance benefits. The physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, using hands and fingers, reaching, stooping, bending, moving throughout the school building, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds.
Work is performed primarily indoors in a school setting, including the health office and other areas of the building, and requires frequent interaction with students, staff, families, and outside providers. The position may involve exposure to illness, body fluids, medications, and other routine health office hazards and may require travel between buildings or district locations, as assigned.
