Position SummaryThe 1st Shift Maintenance Technician I position performs a variety of maintenance activities within the office and manufacturing environment as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
Ideal Candidate- Legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship
- Must be available to work 1st Shift on-site daily in Hobart, Indiana including weekends/OT (5:00 am-1:30 pm CST)
- Perform basic plumbing repairs, carpentry, painting, equipment installation, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance while following OSHA and safety standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain a safe, clean work environment are essential.
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotations, snow removal, and other maintenance-related duties as needed.
$18.00-$25.00 per hour
Responsibilities- Performs repairs in accordance with Safety and OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Act) requirements
- Accurately complete and document work orders promptly in CMMS to maintain high-quality standards
- Performs non-technical maintenance of plumbing systems, including standard repair of leaking fixtures, cleaning obstructed waste lines, and installing water coolers
- Performs carpentry maintenance tasks including routine painting of interior and exterior finishes, stripping floors, installing signage, and assembling furniture and racking storage systems
- Installs new or purchased equipment
- Provides proper information for the acquisition of replacement parts
- Troubleshoots and repairs stationary and mobile equipment
- Participates in the Emergency Evacuation Plan training and drills
- Coordinates and schedules maintenance activities with department managers
- Participates in continuous improvement projects
- Coordinates and assists in inspections of critical building systems and environmental compliance
- Calibrates testing instruments
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities
- Maintains a clean, sanitary, and safe work area, including maintenance shop
- On-call for emergency repairs in breakdown situations as necessary
- Performs snow removal, as required
- Carries out all other duties as assigned by Management
Education and Experience Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent education required
- 1 year facility maintenance or manufacturing experience

- Knowledge of hydraulic systems (preferred)
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
