Operations Manager
Manages the entire project lifecycle from project definition through implementation. Accountable for meeting agreed upon scope, cost, schedule and quality measures. Develops project plan and drives project milestones. Establishes effective communication plan with project team and key stakeholders. Provides day-to-day direction to project resources and ensures the project teams are provided the resources and support that enable the teams to reach their defined objectives.
Ensures effective change management occurs throughout the course of the project. Responsible for preparation of documentation and status reports. Role requires excellent oral and written communications, interpersonal, negotiation, project planning, judgment, leadership, decision-making, analysis and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of construction project best practices.

Role Overview & Scope Xcel Energy is staffing a Construction Supervisor III to support a ~300 MW solar site in Hobbs, NM. The role provides quality and safety oversight of EPC construction with a primary focus on mechanical inspections and some civil inspections, using ArcGIS for inspection capture and reporting. EPC partner on site:
Mortenson. Typical Day & Work Hours
- Arrive on site between 6:30–7:00 a.m. MT; attend 7:30 a.m. Plan of Day (POD) meeting.
- Participate in internal trailer huddles; conduct field walk downs with EPC and inspectors.
- Complete inspection forms (iPad/phone) and upload to inspection platform; frequency varies (1–7+ per day depending on phase).
- Typical schedule budgets ~50 hours/week; potential for Saturdays and occasional Sundays (some weeks may be ~40–60+ hours based on project needs).
- Reports to the on site Construction Manager; CM reports to Hiring Leader (Anthony Albus).
- Works closely with the Project Manager (budget owner), electrical inspectors/engineers, mechanical/civil engineers, EPC Mortenson, and occasional Mortenson sub contractors (e.g., compaction testing).
- Field based construction environment (higher risk); strong safety mindset and adherence to site safety protocols are essential.
- 95%+ of time on the primary site (Cunningham
2); adjacent Cunningham 1 access as needed.
- Inspection capture:
ArcGIS (license and training provided). - Project communication/document control:
Procore preferred. - iPad provided; phone not provided.
- Supplier furnished vehicle preferred; valid driver's license required.
- PPE:
Steel toe boots required (one time pass through reimbursement up to $75).
