* * Position Summary
** The Department of Chemistry, Biology, and Environmental Science (BCES) at Northern New Mexico College invites applications for a nine-month tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor with expertise in application areas of agriculture ecology, sustainable agriculture practices, rangeland management, forest health and restoration management, and soil testing and interpretation. This position is an in-person position based at the NNMC main campus in Espanola, NM.

** Duties & Responsibilities
*** Teaching includes up to 12-credit hours per semester that contribute to the department's curriculum areas in environmental science. The successful candidate could expect to teach courses in the area of environmental science but might also be asked to contribute in other curricular areas.
* Courses are offered at undergraduate level, in-person, online, and hybrid (blended) formats. The successful candidate could expect to develop and offer courses in all these formats based on student’s needs and as new additions to the existing curriculum.
* The successful candidate will be expected to design and teach courses that emphasize field-based learning experiences, providing students with hands-on opportunities.
* The successful candidate will be expected to play an active role in student advisement, including providing academic guidance, mentoring, and supporting students in course selection, and career pathways.
* The successful candidate will be highly encouraged to establish and maintain an active undergraduate research laboratory in environmental sciences and direct efforts towards securing external funding/ student scholarship opportunities for undergraduate students to engage in hands-on research, professional skill development, and scholarly activities.
* Faculty in this role will be responsible for conducting regular course assessments to evaluate student learning outcomes, ensure alignment with departmental and institutional goals, and contribute to the continuous improvement of curriculum and instruction.
* The successful candidate will be expected to mentor students through research and capstone projects, providing guidance and support in developing their scholarly and professional skills.
* The Department values community engagement in research, teaching, outreach, and service, and encourages candidates to incorporate it broadly into their professional activities.
* Service includes participation in faculty duties (committee service) on campus as well as professional involvement off campus.
** KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
*** Prior teaching experience
* Experience with or the desire to learn about online course delivery.
* Ability to work effectively with diverse groups;
* Ability to mentor students in field work;
* Ability to develop hands-on lab material that aligns with his/her own areas of interest;
* Strong presentation and communication skills;
* Ability to interact closely with students

* MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
*** Ph.D. in Environmental Science, Forestry Science, Agriculture, or closely related field at date-of-hire.
