Role Description

The Assistant Principal is a full-time, on-site leadership role located in Hobbs, NM at the brand new campus of Del Norte Middle School. This position supports the Principal in overseeing daily school operations, including instructional leadership, student services, and campus safety. The Assistant Principal collaborates with teachers to implement curriculum standards, monitor classroom instruction, and use data to support student achievement.

Responsibilities include supporting positive behavior interventions, managing disciplinary processes consistent with district policies, and promoting an inclusive, respectful school climate. The role also involves coordinating staff schedules, supervising support personnel, communicating with families, and participating in school events, committees, and district initiatives to advance school improvement goals.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated skills in instructional leadership, curriculum implementation, and data-informed decision-making.
  • Experience with student behavior management, restorative practices, and creating a safe, inclusive school climate.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills for working with students, staff, families, and community partners.
  • Organizational and problem-solving abilities to manage multiple priorities, school operations, and time-sensitive tasks.
  • Knowledge of educational laws, district policies, and best practices in K-12 teaching and learning.
  • Ability to mentor and support educators through coaching, feedback, and professional development.
  • Proficiency with educational technology, student information systems, and basic office software.
  • Master's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field, and appropriate administrative licensure or eligibility as required by state and district regulations.
  • Prior experience in teaching and/or school administration, preferably in a public school setting.
