What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
  • Conduct audits and report on documentation, coding, and billing performed at employer entities
  • Develop and deliver training programs and educational materials to address deficiencies identified in audits
  • Validate coding systems and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Create and monitor inpatient case mix reports to identify patterns and trends
  • Review and interpret medical information for accurate coding and classification
What is Required (Qualifications):
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Certification from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) or American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)
  • AHIMA credentials such as Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
  • AAPC credentials such as Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in hospital or physician coding and/or auditing
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
  • Associate's Degree
  • 3 years of experience with claims processing and data management
  • Background in auditing and education/training in coding and reimbursement
