Position: Director of Residence Life
Description

The Director of Residence Life shall report to the Dean of Students. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

* Develop and implement a long-term vision for residence life aligned with institutional goals and student development best practices.

* Lead and mentor a diverse team of professional and student staff, promoting a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous learning.

* Oversee departmental planning, assessment, and budget management to ensure operational effectiveness and strategic growth.

* Guiding policy development, occupancy management, and crisis response protocols.

* Provide leadership in risk management for residential facilities, ensuring compliance with safety standards, emergency preparedness, and liability mitigation.

* Enforce rules and regulation processes within residential communities, ensuring fair and educational responses to behavioral concerns in alignment with institutional policies.

* Ensure departmental practices and housing operations minimize institutional liability and adhere to legal and regulatory standards.

* Collaborate with campus partners to support student retention, wellness, and community engagement initiatives.

* Represent Residence Life in institutional planning efforts and serve on college-wide committees as needed.

* Develop and update a policy, procedure, and emergency manual and a Resident Assistant (RA) manual and training guide.

* Serves on college committees as assigned.

* Performs other duties as assigned or required.

* Nothing contained herein shall limit the President in assigning the employee to any of the various college activities for which he/she would be qualified in order to meet the needs of New Mexico Junior College.

Personnel & Supervision

* Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate professional Residence Life staff and student workers.

* Provide leadership in staff development, performance management, and team building.

* Ensure compliance with institutional policies, FERPA, ADAAA, and other relevant regulations.

* Foster a supportive and inclusive work environment that encourages innovation and responsiveness to student needs.

Additional Expectations

This is a full-time, twelve-month, live-on campus position with some evenings and weekend availability required to support residential operations and student needs.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree and three years of experience in Residence Life, Housing Management, Student Activities or related field. Candidates with 4-7 years of experience and training may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.

In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. This position is not eligible for Visa Sponsorship.
