Sales & Service Representative

Job Purpose

The Sales & Service Representative delivers business‑to‑business customer service through the order process of pipe, valves, and fitting products (PVF). They create and enter quotes, process customer orders, and resolve customer issues while maximizing value for customers and driving MRC Global strategies for safety, gross margin growth, and financial/operational performance.

• Respond to customer requests for quotes by sourcing products from existing inventory or purchasing externally.
• Create quotes that balance customer value with profitability for MRC Global.
• Identify and pursue sales opportunities to contribute to overall sales growth.
• Engage with customers, utilize product knowledge, and recommend add‑on solutions to maximize customer satisfaction and sales.
• Use MRC Global systems/software to create quotes, locate available products/materials, process orders, create vendor purchase orders, and perform related tasks.
• Adhere to contract pricing, freight, delivery schedules, and key performance indicators.
• Verify on‑time shipping/delivery status of inbound and outbound shipments, communicate status proactively to customers, and adjust sourcing if needed.
• Respond proactively to customers’ needs and concerns with options, applying a problem‑solving approach.
• Validate that product specifications meet approved manufacturer lists or customer requirements.
• Consult managers, other departments, and suppliers as needed to provide the best customer experience.
• Handle orders involving externally sourced labor, return material authorizations, purchase order changes, and special invoicing.
• Communicate responsively and professionally with customers, suppliers, and coworkers throughout the order process.

• One (1) or more years of experience in a dedicated customer‑facing role, inside sales, and/or warehouse services.
• Or recent completion of post‑secondary education such as a technical/trade school, associate degree, or bachelor’s degree, preferably in industrial or sales studies.
• Current, valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

• Proficient in computers and software applications.
• Strong communication skills, able to present information clearly in one‑on‑one and small group settings.
• Attention to detail and a sense of urgency.
• Ability to solve problems and handle customer inquiries effectively.

• Frequent driving and traveling.
• Interactions with others are frequent; most work is performed at a desk or in front of a computer.
• May require sitting or standing for long periods.
