Job Summary

As a Maintenance Technician, you will report to the Maintenance Manager and support the combined-cycle power plant’s mechanical equipment—turbines, generators, pumps, valves, and ancillary systems—by installing, troubleshooting, and repairing while strictly adhering to safety and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities Health and Safety
  • Maintain compliance with the Health & Safety Management System and safe work practices.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and apply timely solutions.
  • Ensure job tasks are reviewed prior to commencement and when changes occur.
  • Report unsafe conditions or incidents immediately to the Health & Safety Manager or Operational leader.
  • Participate in incident investigations, inspections, effectiveness reviews, and best‑practice sharing.
Main Duties
  • Repair, replace, dismantle, and inspect plant equipment such as pumps, valves, fans, gearboxes, demineralizers, compressors, and turbine components.
  • Perform piping and conduit installation for system upgrades and modifications.
  • Operate tools—including drill presses, milling machines, pipe threaders, grinders—and perform metal fabrication projects.
  • Operate welding and cutting equipment for fabrication tasks.
  • Operate and maintain combined‑cycle power plant equipment independently, following guidance from plant management.
  • Maintain equipment by tightening fittings, replacing valve packings, gaskets, and gauges; lubricate moving parts as required.
  • Read meters and gauges to record operational data (temperature, vibration, hours of operation, pressure, fluid levels, water chemistry).
  • Participate in the preventive maintenance program using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and provide trending data.
  • Assist in managing spare‑parts inventory and conduct physical inventories.
  • Work extended hours, varied shifts, and occasional weekend or holiday shifts as conditions require.
  • Complete additional tasks assigned by the Maintenance and Plant Manager.
Qualifications and Skills Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum four years of experience as a power plant mechanic, millwright, or in a similar industrial environment.
Skills
  • Proficiency in maintaining and overhauling mechanical equipment—turbines, pumps, valves, compressors, and balance‑of‑plant systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills with efficient issue resolution.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and mechanical drawings (e.g., P&IDs).
  • Experience with hand tools, power tools, and rigging equipment (winches, hoists, slings).
  • Knowledge of lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and safe work practices.
  • Basic welding and fabrication skills preferred.
  • Experience in combined‑cycle power plants or similar generation facilities preferred.
  • Commitment to safety and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Availability for rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50–75 pounds, climb ladders, stand for extended periods, and work in confined spaces.
