The Journeyman Electrician is responsible for the design, installation, programming, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and automation systems to optimize plant and oilfield operations, maximize uptime, and reduce operating costs.
Key Responsibilities- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot field instrumentation, control systems, analyzers, and electrical equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve issues; collaborate with vendors when necessary.
- Coordinate and conduct well and battery maintenance, upgrades, and new installations.
- Pre‑program transmitters and ensure accurate fluid and gas meter readings.
- Analyze and resolve recurring equipment failures.
- Implement automation designs in line with company standards.
- Support automation during outages and assist in storm recovery efforts.
- Perform PM tasks including testing shutdowns and instrumentation.
- Evaluate and test equipment (valves, motors, instruments).
- Program and troubleshoot RTUs, PLCs, and I/O systems.
- Read and interpret schematics, loop drawings, ladder logic, and P&IDs.
- Maintain process control loops and electronic components.
- 3–5 years of oilfield and electrical experience.
- Valid Journeyman Electrician License.
- Proficient in NEC and local electrical codes.
- Strong diagnostic, repair, and automation skills.
- Experience with test equipment (oscilloscopes, function generators, etc.).
- Hands‑on experience in conduit work, wiring, VFDs, and motor control circuits.
- Skilled in reading schematics and calibrating automation devices.
- Proficient in PLC programming and troubleshooting.
- Competence in operating mini excavators, forklifts, and trenchers.
- Strong computer, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Valid driver’s license required.
This role is situated within an outdoor environment and will be conducted in various weather conditions. It is a full‑time position with working hours scheduled at various hours.
Physical DemandsThe employee will be required to stand, walk, sit, manipulate tools or controls, reach, climb stairs, and communicate verbally. The employee will also need to climb ladders, work from elevated locations, lift, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, reach, and crawl. They must frequently and repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds.
TravelDaily travel within a limited area is expected for this position.
