About the RoleThe CDL (Belly Dump Driver) plays a critical role in the transportation and delivery of bulk materials such as gravel, sand, and asphalt to various construction and industrial sites. This position requires the safe and efficient operation of a commercial vehicle equipped with a belly dump trailer, ensuring timely deliveries while adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations. The driver is responsible for inspecting the vehicle before and after trips to maintain optimal operating conditions and prevent mechanical issues.
Effective communication with dispatchers, site managers, and other team members is essential to coordinate schedules and delivery instructions. Ultimately, the role contributes significantly to project success by ensuring materials are delivered accurately, on time, and in excellent condition.
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A or B with appropriate endorsements.
- Clean driving record with no recent violations or accidents.
- Ability to pass DOT physical examination and drug screening.
- Experience operating belly dump trailers or similar heavy equipment is required.
- Knowledge of federal and state transportation regulations.
- Previous experience in construction material delivery or related industries.
- Familiarity with GPS and electronic logging devices (ELDs).
- Strong mechanical aptitude for basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings or weekends if needed.
- Operate a commercial vehicle with a belly dump trailer to transport bulk materials to designated locations.
- Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with regulations.
- Load and unload materials safely, using the belly dump mechanism to deposit materials precisely as required.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, including mileage, fuel usage, and delivery times.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and site personnel to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any issues.
- Adhere strictly to all federal, state, and local transportation laws and safety standards.
- Report any vehicle defects, accidents, or incidents promptly to management.
