As an International Baccalaureate World School , our mathematics program challenges students to think critically, make connections across disciplines, communicate their reasoning, and apply mathematical concepts in authentic, real‑world contexts.
Our teachers collaborate to design engaging learning experiences that foster curiosity, perseverance, and deep conceptual understanding while developing confident, reflective learners.
The successful candidate will teach one section each of Grade 7 and Grade 8 Mathematics. As an active member of the Middle School faculty, the teacher will also contribute to the life of the school through additional responsibilities that align with the needs of the division and the candidate's strengths and interests.
Essential Responsibilities- Plan and implement engaging lessons that support student growth in pre‑algebra and algebra while making meaningful interdisciplinary connections.
- Design learning experiences that reflect inquiry‑based instruction and the philosophy of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (Grades 6–8).
- Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress, provide meaningful feedback, and inform instruction.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of a range of learners.
- Foster a classroom culture that encourages curiosity, collaboration, mathematical discourse, and respectful dialogue.
- Support students' academic, social, and emotional growth while building a positive and inclusive classroom community.
- Collaborate with grade‑level colleagues, specialists, and learning support teachers to plan curriculum and ensure student success.
- Communicate regularly with families through conferences, written reports, and ongoing partnership.
- Participate actively in faculty collaboration, curriculum development, professional learning initiatives, and the support of co‑curricular opportunities, including a Middle School Math Club.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Math or a related field
- Experience teaching middle school students
- Knowledge of best practices in mathematics instruction
- Commitment to student‑centered learning and differentiated instruction
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and families
- Comfort integrating technology to support teaching and learning
- Experience teaching in an International Baccalaureate (IB) school is welcomed but not required. We seek educators who embrace inquiry-based learning and are excited to grow through IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) training and professional development.
