Teaching Assistant – Pre‑College Program
Stevens Institute of Technology invites a Teaching Assistant to support faculty instruction, mentor high‑school students, and foster an engaging, inclusive, academically enriching environment within its Summer Pre‑College Program. The role is a valuable opportunity for educators, graduate students, or professionals with subject‑matter expertise and a commitment to mentoring the next generation of innovators and leaders.
Job Duties & Responsibilities- Assist pre‑college faculty with instructional activities and classroom management.
- Support student learning during lectures and hands‑on projects.
- Help maintain engagement and foster a positive classroom environment.
- Collaborate with fellow TAs to prepare materials, coordinate group work, and monitor student progress.
- Provide academic support and general guidance to high‑school participants.
- Offer lab support and other work as required.
- Currently pursuing or holding a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field; strong academic background in STEM, business, or a related discipline preferred.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with high‑school students in a collaborative learning environment.
- Prior teaching, tutoring, mentoring, camp counseling, or leadership experience preferred.
$30–$75 per hour. The hourly base range represents the institution’s best estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting. Final salary will be determined based on scope of responsibility, qualifications, and other institutional factors. This range represents base pay only and does not include additional compensation such as incentives or stipends.
