  • Middle School Subject Matter Specialization:
    Math, Science, Social Studies, English, STEM or Humanities Grades 5-8
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of effective teaching methods
  • Ability to maintain a positive learning environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Criminal history background check, physical clearance and PTT
  • Proof of US citizenship or legal resident alien status.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate classroom tasks as outlined by the building principal.
  • Work to achieve the New Jersey Learning Standards and district educational goals and objectives by promoting active learning in the classroom using board‑adopted curriculum and other appropriate learning activities.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
  • Set specific objectives wherever possible in lesson preparation and weekly lesson plans; and carry through presentation to effectively achieve these objectives.
  • Monitor students' academic progress and personal growth toward stated objectives of instruction. Effectively communicate standards and progress with parents regularly.
  • Maintain productive relationships with parents and other staff members.
  • Maintain records of students' educational progress in the Genesis system and summarize as appropriate.
  • Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and resolving learning problems.
  • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a classroom climate conducive to learning.
  • Plan class activities and lesson presentations that are age‑appropriate for the class and meet the individual needs, interests and ability levels of all students.
  • Maintain professional competence and pursue continuous improvement through in‑service education and other professional growth activities.
  • Participate in school‑level planning, faculty meetings/committees, and other school system groups.

    Make effective use of community resources to enhance the instructional program.
  • Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations and board policy.
  • Perform other duties within the scope of employment and certification as may be assigned by district administration.
