The RoleThe Academic Support Center is the academic heartbeat of Hoboken High School—a place where students find expert tutoring, targeted interventions, and the confidence to thrive in coursework and extracurricular activities. The Center is designed to support all learners, with a particular focus on skills-fragile students who require structured academic intervention, scaffolded instruction, and consistent progress monitoring through I&S processes. We are seeking an energetic, student-centered Academic Support Center Coordinator to lead this work.
You will design, deliver, and continuously improve a robust menu of in-person and virtual supports that keep every Redwing on track for graduation, NCAA eligibility, and post-secondary success.
- NJ Instructional or Non-Instructional Certification
- Minimum of 5 years school-based experience required
- Special Education or Intervention Teaching Preferred
- Works collaboratively with High School Administration to organize daily tutoring programs, home instruction, and structured intervention supports for skills-fragile students
- Participates actively on the I&S Team, including development, implementation, and monitoring of intervention plans
- Collaborates with CST and Directors of SBYSP and Special Services to align academic interventions and supports for students requiring additional services
- Works closely with Guidance Counselors to monitor absences, academic performance, and intervention needs of students, with emphasis on early identification of skills gaps
- Collaborates with the Athletic Director to monitor grades of student athletes, ensure NCAA eligibility, and support academic interventions to maintain eligibility for participation and recruitment
- Works collaboratively with the Stevens Institute of Technology Work Study Coordinator to align academic supports and enrichment opportunities
- Designs and implements academic support programs, targeted intervention cycles, and test preparation programs for all students, with differentiated strategies for skills-fragile learners
- Oversees virtual learning and blended intervention programs to expand access to academic support
- Ensures the ongoing growth and expansion of the Academic Support Center, with a focus on evolving systems of academic intervention, equity-based supports, and I&S-aligned practices that respond to the changing academic, social-emotional, and extracurricular needs of students
- The ideal candidate will not only manage current programming but will also innovate and scale new initiatives that promote equity, access, and academic excellence across all student groups, particularly students requiring structured skill remediation and intervention supports.
