Job Description
POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, Systems Engineering, to join the Laboratory for Intelligent Integrated Networks of Engineering Systems (LIINES). The LIINES is devoted to the sustainable and resilient transformation of intelligent multi‑energy engineering systems. The focus of this project includes assessing the socio‑technical potential for transactive energy communities. Candidates with expertise in machine learning, predictive maintenance and control algorithms who are enthusiastic about applying data‑driven techniques to mechatronic system hardware are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities- Design and develop instrumentation, communication, and actuation systems, including refining those systems.
- Lead the socio‑technical energy behavior prediction phase of the project.
- Perform independent research applying data‑driven algorithms to solve practical problems.
- Collaborate with internal and external interdisciplinary research groups.
- Mentor junior researchers and coordinate research tasks.
- PhD in systems/mechanical/electrical engineering or a related field with a strong background in hardware development and practical implementation.
- In‑depth theoretical knowledge of data‑driven algorithm development and control theory.
- Proficient coding skills for implementing efficient algorithms across various architectures.
- Experience with predictive maintenance, including prior publication or project experience.
- Hands‑on experience implementing algorithms on resource‑constrained mechatronic hardware platforms.
- Strong organizational and planning skills; proficient writing and presentation abilities; capacity to work in a diverse, multi‑group environment.
In compliance with the New Jersey Wage Transparency Act, the annual base range for this position is $65,000 – $75,000
. This range represents the university’s estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting. The final salary will be set based on the position’s scope, the candidate’s qualifications, and departmental budget considerations.
