About the Role
The Tax Analyst will support Wiley's global tax function by assisting with tax compliance and financial reporting processes. This entry-level role focuses on preparing detailed tax work papers and supporting schedules for the quarterly and year‑end tax provision (ASC 740), as well as federal and state/local income tax compliance. Responsibilities include compiling and validating data for tax filings, preparing book‑to‑tax differences and account reconciliations, and maintaining well‑organized, audit‑ready documentation.
The role also involves collaborating with internal teams and external advisors, supporting state and local tax processes (including sales tax reporting), and assisting with responses to IRS and state tax notices.
You will work closely with cross‑functional finance teams to ensure accuracy in our financial statements and SEC filings. The ideal candidate will have strong foundational knowledge of US GAAP and corporate tax laws, with a desire to learn complex international tax concepts. Job Responsibilities- Support preparation of quarterly and annual tax provision work papers (ASC 740).
- Prepare work papers to support federal and state/local income tax compliance.
- Prepare various supporting schedules, including book‑to‑tax differences and account reconciliations.
- Assist in gathering, validating, and organizing data for tax filings.
- Prepare and maintain detailed Excel‑based tax work papers and documentation.
- Support state and local tax processes, including apportionment, compliance tracking, and sales tax calculations.
- Assist in tracking and responding to IRS and state and local tax notices.
- Conduct basic tax research and assist with process improvements.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Taxation.
- CPA or working toward CPA.
- 1–3 years of tax experience.
- Knowledge of federal and state tax laws.
- Experience with tax software and systems.
- Strong analytical and research skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Team player attitude.
- Experience with corporate taxation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and AI tools.
- Ability to learn and adapt in a fast‑paced setting.
- Master's degree in Accounting or Taxation.
- Tax Technology: experience using specialized corporate tax software (e.g., One Source, Corptax, Alteryx) to automate workflows and data extraction.
