Ainsworth Hoboken is a fast-growing restaurant that develops, owns, and operates a diverse portfolio of food, beverage, and entertainment venues.
Role Description The Assistant General Manager is a full-time, on-site role based at The Ainsworth Hoboken in Hoboken, NJ. This role supports the General Manager in overseeing daily operations, including staff supervision, floor management, and ensuring an exceptional guest experience. The Assistant General Manager helps manage scheduling, training, and performance for front-of-house teams, while promoting a positive, professional work environment. Responsibilities include monitoring service standards, coordinating with the kitchen and bar teams, assisting with inventory and ordering, and supporting the implementation of promotional events and marketing initiatives.
The role also involves handling guest feedback, maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations, and contributing to operational and financial goals. This role is for nights and weekends.
Qualifications
- Operational leadership skills, including team supervision, floor management, and shift coordination.
- Strong guest service, conflict resolution, and relationship-building skills in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
- Experience with scheduling, basic budgeting, and inventory control in restaurants, bars, or similar venues.
- Ability to train, coach, and motivate staff to maintain consistent service standards and a positive workplace culture.
- Knowledge of food and beverage operations, including menu familiarity, bar service, and health and safety compliance.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with management, kitchen, bar, and front-of-house teams.
- Previous supervisory or management experience in hospitality or restaurant operations is strongly preferred.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by venue operations.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and comfort using basic point-of-sale and scheduling systems.
- Relevant education or training in hospitality management or a related field is a plus.
