As a Manager in AI Native Engineering within EY’s Artificial Intelligence and Data team, you will research, build, and implement scalable AI systems to solve complex problems for Power & Utilities clients. You will work side‑by‑side with clients and interdisciplinary teams to design, develop, and industrialize end‑to‑end analytics solutions that support regulated utilities, ranging from grid reliability to capital planning and customer operations.
YourResponsibilities
- Lead workstream delivery and manage processes and projects to ensure on‑time, on‑budget results.
- Continuously improve processes by researching innovative solutions and conducting analysis.
- Supervise professional employees and manage teams to deliver complex technical initiatives with accountability for performance.
- Engage actively with clients in daily sessions, leading work streams from planning through execution to closure.
- Identify opportunities for additional services and manage engagement economics.
- Design and deliver AI/ML use cases relevant to Power & Utilities, such as asset health prediction, outage analytics, demand forecasting, and regulatory reporting.
- Integrate utility data sources—including SCADA, AMI, GIS, EAM, OMS, CIS, and historian systems—into modern analytics platforms.
- Support utilities in moving AI solutions from pilots to production while meeting regulatory, audit, cybersecurity, and data governance requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree (4‑year degree).
- 6–10 years of full‑time experience in AI, Data Science, and/or Machine Learning.
- 2–4 years of direct experience managing technical teams.
- Strong skills in Python.
- Experience designing, building, and maintaining high‑impact production AI/ML solutions on a major cloud platform.
- Proficiency with Generative AI models and frameworks (e.g., OpenAI, DALL‑E, Lang Chain, Retrieval‑Augmented Generation) and ML packages such as scikit‑learn and PyTorch.
- Experience with natural language processing and deep learning.
- Extensive experience with Dev Ops tools (Git, Azure Dev Ops), Agile (Jira), and CI/CD pipelines for analytical solutions.
- Experience with MLOps and ML workflows, including data ingestion, transformation, and evaluation.
- Experience with model retraining, feedback loops, monitoring, and reporting.
- Understanding of data structures, modeling, and software engineering best practices.
- Strong foundation in mathematics, statistics, operations research, SQL, Pandas, Spark, and deep‑learning techniques.
- Excellent communication skills and willingness to travel for client engagements.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage change, and build client trust.
- Experience delivering analytics or AI solutions in asset‑intensive environments (e.g., utilities, energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, or transportation) is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with utility regulatory, compliance, or operational data considerations is a plus.
- Deep understanding of and ability to teach concepts, tools, and techniques.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physical Sciences, or a quantitative field.
- Experience working with diverse teams to deliver complex solutions.
- Proficiency in languages beyond Python (R, JavaScript, Java, C++,
C). - Experience fine‑tuning Generative AI models.
- Experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of industry trends and emerging technologies.
- Skills in data visualization and storytelling with data.
- Experience with image processing, speech, or audio analysis.
- Exposure to Power & Utilities transformation programs such as grid modernization, advanced metering, wildfire mitigation, energy transition, DER integration, or digital operations initiatives.
- Experience supporting executive‑level decision‑making in regulated environments, including preparation of materials for regulators or governing bodies.
