Part-Time Research Assistant
The Department of Mechanical Engineering in the Charles V. Schaefer, Jr. School of Engineering and Science at Stevens Institute of Technology is seeking a highly motivated Part-Time Research Assistant to support ongoing computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and aerospace engineering research projects.
Essential Responsibilities- Perform and analyze Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Direct Simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) simulations related to parachute permeability modeling.
- Conduct CFD simulations using commercial software to evaluate high-Reynolds-number in compressible flows involving complex geometries.
- Process, organize, and analyze simulation and experimental data to support ongoing research objectives.
- Assist in the interpretation and presentation of research findings.
- Contribute to the preparation, editing, and submission of peer-reviewed journal articles, conference papers, and technical reports.
- Maintain accurate documentation of research methods, simulation parameters, and results.
- Collaborate with faculty members, graduate researchers, and project team members to achieve research milestones.
- Perform other research-related duties as assigned.
- PhD with experience in CFD and DSMC simulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to contribute to technical reports and scholarly publications.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research environment.
- Previous experience supporting academic or sponsored research projects.
