CDL Class B license required at time of hire — no exceptions.
Pay: $20.00- $25.96 per hour DOE
Once trained, candidate will join a weekly on-call rotation (Fri 3:30 PM – following Fri 3:30 PM).
On-call pay includes 4 OT hours/week plus overtime for all callouts.
NJDEP C1 Collections License must be obtained within 2 years of hire — exam fees and materials covered.
We're looking for a motivated Collections Operator-in-Training to join our wastewater operations team.
You’ll assist in the operation and maintenance of the wastewater collection system — learning equipment, tools, and procedures under the guidance of experienced Collections Operators.
This is a hands‑on role with a clear path to licensure and long-term career growth in utility operations.
What you’ll do- Assist Collections Operators with sewer cleaning, clearing, rodding equipment, and collection system repairs
- Assist with cleaning of bar screen facilities throughout the collection system
- Perform weekly preventive maintenance on equipment as needed
- Learn and develop skills across a variety of tools and equipment used in collection system maintenance
- Maintain maintenance records using a CMMS system; develop spreadsheets and documents in Word and Excel
- Read and interpret sewer maps, construction plans, specifications, and O&M manuals
- Diagnose simple wastewater collection system problems
- Perform Activity Hazard Analysis and Pre-Task Planning
- Respond to callouts during weekly on-call rotation once trained
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) — required at time of hire
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in confined spaces, and perform physically demanding tasks throughout an 8-hour shift
- Ability to work outdoors in varied weather and environmental conditions
- Must obtain NJDEP Collections C1 License within 2 years of hire (exam fees and materials covered)
- Must join weekly on-call rotation once trained
- Nice to have Knowledge of collection system tools, equipment, and materials
- Prior experience in water, wastewater, or collections operations
- OSHA training — Confined Space Entry and Lockout/Tagout
- NJDEP C1 Operators License already obtained
