The Sir George is a beautifully restored 1850s pub on the Murrumbidgee River in Jugiong, NSW — approximately 90 minutes from Canberra.

We're looking for an experienced Chef to join our kitchen team for the full season. This is an opportunity to work with local produce, pub classics and modern kitchen techniques in a busy, high-volume venue.

Full-season opportunity from October 2026 to 25 April 2027

Private room in staff accommodation for $150 per week

Working under the Executive Chef and Head Chef, you will contribute to the delivery of a high-quality food offering during busy service periods.

You will:

Prepare and cook food on the line

Maintain high standards of quality, presentation and consistency

Run a clean and organised section during high-volume service

Prepare dishes using sous vide, cryovac and modern kitchen equipment

Work with local produce and elevated pub classics

Support dining service, functions and seasonal events

Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace safety standards

Work collaboratively with the wider kitchen team

The venue can seat more than 400 guests on a busy day, with functions and additional dining activity from November.

You'll bring:

Experience working as a Chef, Chef de Partie or Demi Chef in a professional kitchen

Strong communication and teamwork skills

A reliable, positive and hands-on approach

The ability to maintain quality and organisation under pressure

A genuine interest in working with local produce and quality food

Availability to commit to the full season

A trade qualification or equivalent commercial cooking experience is required.

Jugiong is a regional NSW town approximately 40 km from the nearest towns. A car is helpful for getting around, although private staff accommodation is available on site at $150 per week.

Working holiday makers are welcome, provided they can commit to the full season. Please note that Jugiong does not count towards the 88 days required for a second or third Working Holiday visa.
