The Area Supervisor is a member of Store Leadership responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store as well as general operations and supervision when functioning as Manager on Duty. Responsibilities include opening and closing the Store, supervising Associates, maintaining a friendly environment, ensuring proper merchandise presentation, and executing Company operational processes as needed.
Essential Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments- Safety is the number one priority – practice safe behaviors and maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor.
- Secure building entrance/exit, EAS devices, cash office, register area, and armored carrier pick‑ups.
- Remove clutter and ensure clear egress to emergency exits.
- Customer safety – accident prevention, reporting, and emergency procedures.
- Test all fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after‑hours alarms when requested.
- Treat all Customers, Associates, and other leaders with respect.
- Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism; recognize Associates using Company programs.
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
- Maintain a professional appearance and enforce the Dress Code.
- Keep all areas clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard; responsible for daily trash removal.
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed to Company standards.
- Manage receiving of merchandise truck and non‑merchandise inbound deliveries.
- Process all merchandise with urgency and maintain stockroom organization.
- Assist with floor moves, promotional signing, and re‑wraps.
- Comply with Loss Prevention Awareness Program and maintain a customer‑service focus.
- Safeguard confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
- Maintain Public View Monitor (PVM) and conduct “Code 50” package inspections.
- Maximize productivity at the Front End, manage customer wait time, and train Associates on cash registers.
- Control retail breaks, ensure all equipment works, and maintain supplies.
- Teach “Scan and Bag” best practice and ensure merchandise salability.
- Maintain cleanliness; audit garment tags and manage walk‑back compliance.
- Conduct cash pulls, bank deposits, and front‑end control.
- Oversee payroll administration and Associate scheduling.

- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with point‑of‑sale equipment and applications.
- Basic mathematical calculations common in retail.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
- Use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PC.
- Spend up to 100% of time standing, walking, and moving around the Store.
- Regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs.
