General Purpose

The Area Supervisor is a member of Store Leadership responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store as well as general operations and supervision when functioning as Manager on Duty. Responsibilities include opening and closing the Store, supervising Associates, maintaining a friendly environment, ensuring proper merchandise presentation, and executing Company operational processes as needed.

Essential Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
  • Safety is the number one priority – practice safe behaviors and maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor.
  • Secure building entrance/exit, EAS devices, cash office, register area, and armored carrier pick‑ups.
  • Remove clutter and ensure clear egress to emergency exits.
  • Customer safety – accident prevention, reporting, and emergency procedures.
  • Test all fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after‑hours alarms when requested.
Customer Service
  • Treat all Customers, Associates, and other leaders with respect.
  • Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism; recognize Associates using Company programs.
Personal and Store Brand
  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and enforce the Dress Code.
  • Keep all areas clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard; responsible for daily trash removal.
General Merchandising
  • Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed to Company standards.
  • Manage receiving of merchandise truck and non‑merchandise inbound deliveries.
  • Process all merchandise with urgency and maintain stockroom organization.
  • Assist with floor moves, promotional signing, and re‑wraps.
Loss Prevention
  • Comply with Loss Prevention Awareness Program and maintain a customer‑service focus.
  • Safeguard confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
  • Maintain Public View Monitor (PVM) and conduct “Code 50” package inspections.
Front End Supervision and Operations
  • Maximize productivity at the Front End, manage customer wait time, and train Associates on cash registers.
  • Control retail breaks, ensure all equipment works, and maintain supplies.
  • Teach “Scan and Bag” best practice and ensure merchandise salability.
Fitting Rooms
  • Maintain cleanliness; audit garment tags and manage walk‑back compliance.
Administrative Duties as Assigned by Store Manager
  • Conduct cash pulls, bank deposits, and front‑end control.
  • Oversee payroll administration and Associate scheduling.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with point‑of‑sale equipment and applications.
  • Basic mathematical calculations common in retail.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements / ADA
  • Use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PC.
  • Spend up to 100% of time standing, walking, and moving around the Store.
  • Regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs.
