Reports to:
Building Principal
Job Goal:
Responsible for providing an early childhood education program that addresses all areas of development and meets the individual needs of each child. Observes and assesses children's development, plans children's curriculum based on child development knowledge, designs the learning environment, and implements and supervises developmentally appropriate learning activities.
Qualifications:
1) Must meet all licensure and highly qualified requirements as set forth by the Massachusetts Department of Education (Early Childhood, SEI Endorsement)
2) Prior successful classroom work experience in early childhood.
Performance Responsibilities:
1) Knowledge of and the ability to implement the MA Kindergarten Curriculum Frameworks using district curriculum tools.
2) Develop and implement daily lesson plans that include evidence-based, inclusive, and culturally sustaining instruction.
3) Provide tiered instruction and scaffolds; differentiates instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles, needs, interests, and levels of readiness.
4) Provide appropriate materials and experiences which address the social, physical, emotional, and intellectual needs of each student.
5) Use a variety of informal and formal methods of assessments to measure student learning, growth, and understanding.
6) Analyze data from assessments and draws conclusions to improve student learning; provides feedback on how students can improve their performance.
7) Provide a child-centered environment which has attractive displays, interest centers and exhibits of students' work.
8) Create and maintain appropriate standards of behavior, mutual respect and safety to provide a collaborative learning environment.
9) Collaborate and engage with families regularly about student learning, performance and strategies for supporting student learning and development both at home and ) Maintain professional competence through in-service days and learning opportunities by the district, and/or in self-selected professional growth activities to improve quality of practice.
11) Collaborate and share responsibility with colleagues to implement goals and initiatives of the school and district, including examining student work, analyzing student performance, and planning appropriate interventions.
12) Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
13) Meet professional obligations with respect to punctuality, attendance and routine duties.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually, in accordance with accepted district guidelines/procedures in alignment with state mandates and expectations.
Terms Of Employment: 182 days per year
