Position: Spanish Teacher - Middle School

Location: Mountview Middle School

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field. Master’s preferred. Subject matter expertise.
  • Certification: Current Massachusetts Teaching License for the applicable grade level and subject area. SEI endorsement required.
  • Experience: Previous teaching experience is preferred.
  • Skills: Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and colleagues. Ability to design and deliver rigorous, standards-based instruction and differentiate to meet the diverse needs of all learners, including Multilingual Learners, students with disabilities, and advanced learners. Skilled in using student data to inform instruction, monitor progress, and support students’ social, emotional and academic growth within a collaborative, multi-tiered system of supports.
  • Citizenship/Residency: Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
  • Background: Successful completion of background checks as required by Massachusetts state law and School Committee policies.
Job Responsibilities
  • Instruction: Plan, organize, and deliver high-quality, Massachusetts standards-aligned lessons using culturally and linguistically sustaining practices through District approved materials and curricula. Adapt lessons and differentiate to meet diverse student needs and learning styles. Develop and implement both content and language objectives for every lesson to support linguistic growth and academic progress.
  • Student Support: Actively participate in the MTSS framework, monitoring student progress, identifying challenges, and providing appropriate interventions and data-driven support. Offer additional assistance beyond regular hours as needed.
  • Assessment: Monitor student performance through formative and summative assessments, assignments, observations, and other tools. Provide timely feedback to students and parents.
  • Classroom Management: Establish and sustain a safe, inclusive, respectful environment that promotes engagement and academic and behavioral success.
  • Collaboration: Work with colleagues, administrators, and support staff in Professional Learning Communities to enhance instruction using high quality materials and researched-based strategies. Participate in committees, professional development, and faculty meetings. Maintain professionalism and high moral standards. Co-plan and support Multilingual Learners with ESL/ELD specialists.
  • Parent and Community Engagement: Communicate effectively with parents and guardians about student progress, behavior, and concerns. Use translation and interpretation services when necessary to ensure equitable access to information.
  • Professional Learning: Pursue and implement professional development, integrate emerging technologies, and align with evolving district and state educational vision, initiatives, and policies.
Physical Requirements
  • Work in a classroom setting and adapt to dynamic school environment.
  • Occasional lifting of instructional materials and moving throughout the building.
