Qualifications- Education: Bachelor s degree in Education or related field;
Master’s preferred. Subject matter expertise. - Certification: Valid Massachusetts Teaching License for the applicable grade level and subject area. SEI endorsement required.
- Experience: Previous teaching experience is preferred.
- Skills: Effective communication and collaboration with students, families, and colleagues; ability to design and implement standards-based lesson plans; ability to tailor teaching strategies for diverse learners including ELLs, students with disabilities, and advanced learners; ability to support social, emotional, and academic challenges.
- Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Develop and implement IEPs based on student needs, in compliance with Massachusetts DESE regulations. Participate in IEP meetings, eligibility meetings, and team meetings as necessary.
- Instruction: Plan, organize, and deliver effective lessons aligned with state standards and curriculum. Adapt lessons to meet individual needs and learning styles; use research-based practices while implementing IEPs.
- Student Support: Implement MTSS framework with progress monitoring, identify academic or behavioral challenges, and provide appropriate interventions. Availability for extra help as needed.
- Assessment: Monitor student performance with formative and summative assessments; maintain timely documentation; provide feedback to students and parents.
- Classroom Management: Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.
- Collaboration: Work with colleagues and support staff in PLCs to improve instruction; participate in professional development and school committees; collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusion and co-teaching as needed.
- Parent and Community Engagement: Communicate student progress and concerns with parents; participate in conferences and school events.
- Professional Learning: Pursue ongoing professional development to implement innovative practices and align with Massachusetts policies.
- Ability to work in a classroom setting in a dynamic school environment.
- Occasional lifting of materials and moving within the building.
- Successful completion of background checks as required by state law and School Committee policies.
