Building Controls Deployment Engineer

Overview

Passive Logic is looking for a Controls Deployment Engineer to stand up, troubleshoot, and support our hardware and software infrastructure in real-world environments. This role involves field Hive support, deployment, and integration of new tooling to enable cutting-edge building automation in partner facilities.

• Field Hive support and deployment:
  Commission, configure, and validate Hive systems in the field.
• IoT integration and tooling:
  Install and upgrade tooling and instrumentation to support advanced building operations.
• Network troubleshooting:
  Configure and debug IP networks for system communications.
• System diagnostics:
  Investigate and resolve HVAC and control system issues using trend data and logs.
• Documentation:
  Record and standardize deployment procedures for repeatability and quality control.
• Collaborate across teams:
  Work with engineering, product, and customer success to ensure smooth deployments and robust performance.

• Proven experience in HVAC controls with familiarity with control sequences.
• Experience with IoT systems and real-world deployments.
• IP networking knowledge, including troubleshooting routers, switches, and end-devices.
• HVAC trend data analysis and troubleshooting.
• Exceptional communication and customer-facing skills; ability to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Organized and strategic, with strong problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Collaborative mindset with experience working across teams to drive customer success.
• Adaptability to a fast-paced startup environment and willingness to learn and iterate.
• Problem solving ownership and proactive approach to resolving issues.
• Desirable:
  Database querying experience (Graph
  
  QL, SQL, JQ, etc.), Linux terminal familiarity (SSH, command line, system logs, systemd), experience with Raspberry Pis/Arduinos or embedded platforms, HVAC systems background, and familiarity with Git.
