POSITION SUMMARYThe Group and Day Camp Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the successful implementation of the Group and Day Camp at Camp Seven Hills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Attend mandatory supervisors weekend in May (date and time to be determined)
- Develops professional goals for the summer that will help support and meet GSWNY’s mission and camp goals.
- Works closely with the administrative team on selection of Group and Day Camp staffing.
- Keeps open lines of communication with the Assistant Camp Director/Camp Director and Sr. Director of Camp Administration on a daily basis.
- Works closely with the administrative team in developing the pre-camp training schedule.
- Responsible for teaching specialized trainings during pre-camp.
- Works with the administrative team to help build staff morale and growth by making himself/herself visible as a role model around camp.
- Works as a team player.
- Provide excellent customer service to other staff members, campers, parents and visitors to camp.
- Supervises and submits a written evaluation for the following direct reports:
Unit Counselors & Group Camp Lesion/s - Supervises the unit staff in assuring the implementation of the day camp planned activities, programs and themes are carried out successfully and assist them as needed.
- Supervises the Group Camping Liaisons in assuring that the implementation of required check in calls, scheduling, planned activities, programs and themes are carried out successfully and assist them as needed.
- Participates in all aspects of camp including pre-camp training, open house and post camp.
- Apply behavior management techniques to conflicts with children when necessary.
- Report incidents/accidents to supervisor or health supervisor immediately.
- Report suspected child abuse to supervisor immediately.
- Accepts other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Camp Director & Assistant Director/s
- Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality;

- Subscribe to the principles of the Girl Scout Movement and become a registered member of GSUSA;
- Successfully pass the required background checks at hire and thereafter;
- Maintain reliable transportation to and from home and work;
- If travel is required, must possess a valid driver’s license, meet minimum state auto insurance requirements, and meet the insurance carrier’s requirements for coverage.
