Job Description

As the Supervisor, Project Design, you’ll lead a team responsible for planning, coordinating, and supporting natural gas infrastructure projects across the Holland region. This role plays a critical part in ensuring projects move efficiently from concept to construction while balancing operational priorities, contractor schedules, municipal requirements, permitting needs, and customer expectations.

You’ll work closely with project planners, operations, inspectors, municipalities, contractors, and internal stakeholders to keep projects moving safely, efficiently, and on schedule. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a background in utility construction, project coordination, infrastructure planning, or operations leadership who enjoys solving problems, leading people, and managing multiple priorities.

• Administer and enforce company safety programs for applicable employees.
• Prepare and support project plans related to DIMP, TIMP, Public Improvement, and operational programs.
• Direct project assignments to ensure work is completed safely, on time, within budget, and with a high level of quality.
• Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures that align with company goals and objectives.
• Ensure company internal controls, procedures, and processes are followed consistently.
• Periodically review work processes and controls to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Train, coach, mentor, develop, and evaluate Project Design employees.
• Manage and support the department’s day‑to‑day work processes and project priorities.
• Partner with operations, contractors, municipalities, inspectors, and internal stakeholders to support project execution and district needs.
• Schedule and meet with customers, municipalities, and other stakeholders as needed to support project requirements.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge through training, industry publications, networking, and continuing education opportunities.
• Promote a positive, collaborative work environment while supporting operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

• 3-5 years of related experience in construction, utility operations, infrastructure, project coordination, or a similar field.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience is preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of gas main and service installation, maintenance, and operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a closely related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively work with employees, contractors, municipalities, customers, and other stakeholders.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including spreadsheets and business software applications, with the ability to learn new systems and technologies.

• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills with the ability to evaluate data and prepare reports.
• Ability to build positive relationships and communicate effectively with employees, customers, contractors, and management.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to coach, train, mentor, and develop team members.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, schedules, and stakeholders in a fast‑paced environment.
• Commitment to safety, compliance, and operational excellence.
• Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.

• Combination of office and field work supporting active construction and infrastructure projects.
• Regular travel throughout the assigned service territory.
