Holland Public Schools is located in Holland, Michigan. The district has four elementary schools, one middle school and one high school and has an enrollment of approximately 3000 students. We offer a dual language immersion program in Spanish in grades K-8. Holland Public Schools has a diverse student population with approximately 47% Latinx, 9% Black, 6% Multiracial, 3 % Asian and 35% White and approximately 64% free and reduced lunch.

PRIMARY JOB GOAL: To provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the District's curricular and extracurricular programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintain discipline when students are on the bus or van.
  • Report any and all pupil injuries to authorities and complete required reports.
  • Help conduct emergency evacuation drills in keeping with school policies and laws.
  • Instruct riders on how to be responsible passengers.
  • Report undisciplined students to the proper authority.
  • Maintains regular, consistent, and timely attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the building principal and the Director of Transportation.
  • QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have completed High School with diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must be 21 years of age and a United States Citizen.
  • Ability to demonstrate acceptable punctuality and attendance.
  • Ability to react calmly in emergency situations, and physically able to evacuate students.
  • Ability and willingness to complete required hours of training, including First Aid and CPR, and ability to maintain certification.
  • Ability to effectively deal with large numbers of students of various ages on a school bus or van.
  • Ability to satisfactorily deal with stressful and/or emergency situations.
  • OTHER INFORMATION:
    Seizure training needed.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
    While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to work in a typical office setting, use standard office equipment, read printed materials and a computer screen, and communicate in person or over the telephone. May be occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The work also requires the following physical abilities in order to perform the essential job functions: climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
