Preschool Coordinator

Holland Public Schools, located in Holland Michigan. The district has four elementary schools, one middle school and one high school and has an enrollment of approximately 3000 students. We offer a dual language immersion program in Spanish in grades K-8. Holland Public Schools has a diverse student population with approximately 47% Latinx, 9% Black, 6% Mulitracial, 3 % Asian and 35% White and approximately 64% free and reduced lunch.

Position Overview

The Preschool Coordinator provides leadership, compliance oversight, and instructional support to ensure high-quality early childhood programming across Holland Public Schools. This position balances program operations and compliance responsibilities (40%) with direct teacher support, coaching, and instructional leadership (60%) to strengthen classroom practice, improve child outcomes, and ensure alignment with GSRP, Child Care Licensing, and Great Start to Quality (GSQ) standards. A key function of this role is to support staff in implementing curriculum, assessment, and best practice early childhood instruction with fidelity, while ensuring clear understanding of program rules, regulations, and expectations.

This position may also include supporting day-to-day program operations, including occasional classroom coverage or subbing as needed to maintain program continuity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

60% Teacher Support & Instructional Leadership

  • Instructional Support, Curriculum & Assessment Leadership
    • Provide ongoing, job-embedded support to preschool lead teachers and instructional assistants using research-based practices.
    • Support implementation of approved early childhood curriculum with fidelity.
    • Guide teachers in lesson planning, intentional teaching strategies, and differentiated instruction aligned to curriculum and early childhood standards.
    • Support effective use of child assessment tools to inform instruction and monitor student progress.
    • Conduct classroom observations and provide actionable feedback aligned to GSRP and district instructional expectations.
    • Model best practice early childhood instruction, including developmentally appropriate, play-based, and child-centered learning.
    • Facilitate reflective conversations focused on continuous improvement.
    • Support staff in understanding the connection between curriculum, assessment, and child outcomes.
  • Social-Emotional & Behavior Support
    • Support implementation of PBIS (Pyramid Model) and developmentally appropriate behavior supports.
    • Coach teachers in social-emotional learning practices aligned to early childhood standards.
  • Professional Learning & PLCs
    • Lead preschool Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) focused on curriculum, assessment practices, and instructional best practices.
    • Provide and coordinate district-level professional development aligned to early childhood curriculum, assessment systems, and instructional practices.
    • Support staff understanding of GSRP, licensing, and GSQ expectations as they relate to classroom instruction and environment.
    • Support onboarding, mentoring, and ongoing development of preschool staff.
  • Data & Program Improvement
    • Guide teachers in analyzing child assessment data to inform instruction and improve outcomes.
    • Support classroom goal setting and continuous improvement planning.
    • Collaborate with district leadership to evaluate program effectiveness, including curriculum and instructional impact.

    40% Program Operations, Enrollment & Compliance Oversight

    • Enrollment, Recruitment & Family Communication
      • Oversee GSRP enrollment processes, including eligibility verification and required documentation.
      • Monitor recruitment efforts to ensure full enrollment and equitable access.
      • Ensure accurate reporting of enrollment data to state and intermediate district partners.
      • Maintain required enrollment records in compliance with program expectations.
      • Communicate with families regarding enrollment, eligibility, program expectations, and next steps.
      • Ensure clear, timely, and family-friendly communication throughout the enrollment process.
    • Family Engagement & Community Events
      • Coordinate and participate in family events such as orientations, information nights, and transition activities.
