Performing Arts Center Supervisor (Part-Time)

The Supervisor of the Performing Arts Center (PAC) manages all operations, technical production, scheduling, and maintenance of the high school's state-of-the-art performing arts facility. This role serves a dual purpose: ensuring professional-grade production support for school and community events, and providing instructional mentorship to students interested in technical theater and arts administration.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the master calendar for the PAC, balancing school assemblies, educational department performances (theater, band, choir, orchestra), and outside community rentals.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external organizations renting the facility; coordinate contracts, invoicing, and insurance requirements in compliance with district policy.
  • Oversee the PAC budget, including tracking revenue from rentals/ticket sales and managing expenditures for equipment, supplies, and maintenance.
  • Supervise Front of House operations, including box office, ticketing systems, ushering, and audience safety.
  • Serve as the Technical Director for all major school productions and district events, or coordinate with hired designers.
  • Operate, program, and maintain complex theatrical systems, including automated and LED lighting networks, digital audio consoles, wireless microphone systems, and projection equipment.
  • Oversee the operation and safety inspections of the stage rigging and fly systems.
  • Ensure strict adherence to OSHA and school district safety standards backstage and in the auditorium.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise a student technical theater crew to run audio, lighting, fly lines, and backstage logistics for events.
  • Teach students real-world technical skills, stagecraft, and workplace safety, fostering a professional and collaborative environment.
  • Support students looking to pursue technical theater or arts management in higher education or as a career.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Theater, Arts Administration, Theater Design, or a closely related field.
  • 3+ years of experience managing a performing arts venue or working as a Technical Director, ideally within an educational or community theater setting.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard lighting consoles (e.g., ETC EOS family) and digital audio mixers (e.g., Yamaha, Behringer, Allen & Heath).
  • Strong working knowledge of theatrical rigging, stage carpentry, and AV systems.
  • Familiarity with box office software and facility scheduling platforms.
