Holland Public Schools, located in Holland Michigan, is seeking an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher for the  school year at West Elementary School. Holland Public Schools has a diverse student population and offers a dual language immersion program in Spanish in grades K-8. The Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Teacher is responsible for providing specialized instruction and support to preschool-aged children with disabilities while preparing them for successful participation in general education and inclusive learning environments. The teacher creates a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom that promotes developmental growth, school readiness, independence, and social-emotional competence. Through collaboration with families, multidisciplinary teams, and preschool staff, the ECSE Teacher implements individualized supports and evidence-based practices designed to maximize each child's access to the general education curriculum and increase opportunities for inclusion.

The teacher ensures compliance with all state and federal special education regulations while fostering high expectations for all learners.

Education and

Certifications:

Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate. ZS (Early Childhood Special Education) endorsement, ZN (Early Childhood General and Special Education Birth Kindergarten) endorsement, or other Michigan-approved certification qualifying the individual to serve as an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher.

Preferred Experience:

Experience providing Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) services to preschool-aged children. Experience developing, implementing, and monitoring IEPs. Experience supporting children in inclusive early childhood settings. Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, families, and community partners. Experience implementing Creative Curriculum/TS GOLD, Pyramid Model, and evidence-based early childhood practices.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of IDEA, MARSE, and best practices in Early Childhood Special Education. Ability to provide specially designed instruction and individualized supports. Strong collaboration, communication, and family engagement skills. Commitment to preparing students for successful participation in inclusive and general education environments. Ability to use assessment and progress-monitoring data to inform instruction.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

Must be able to lift, carry, and assist children weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be able to bend, kneel, squat, sit on the floor, and move freely while engaging in classroom and outdoor activities with young children. Must be able to respond quickly to student needs and emergency situations. Regularly required to communicate effectively with students, families, and staff; use classroom and office technology;

and maintain required documentation. Work is performed primarily in a preschool classroom environment with frequent movement throughout the day and occasional outdoor supervision. Demonstrate flexibility, professionalism, and a positive growth mindset.
