Holland Public Schools, located in Holland, Michigan, is seeking an Instructional Coach for Holland High School. The district has four elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school with an enrollment of approximately 3000 students. Holland Public Schools offers a dual language immersion program in Spanish in grades K-8. The district has a diverse student population with approximately 47% Latinx, 9% Black, 6% Multiracial, 3% Asian, and 35% White and approximately 64% free and reduced lunch.

Primary Job Goal:
The High School Instructional Coach will support teachers in and out of the classroom in all academic areas. The High School Instructional Coach will also support the building administration team in data collection and analysis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

• Coaching with the goal of sustainability.
• Support sustainability of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).
• Help to identify and ensure at-risk students (those who struggle with behavior and academic concerns and are at risk of not graduating) are receiving support through in-class and other building supports.
• Provide training to school teams to maintain MTSS academic interventions and supports.
• Use data to determine classrooms that would benefit from coaching support (data driven coaching).
• Designate teachers to help in the implementation of Tier 1 and Tier 2 supports.
• Coordinate with building administration and school based teams on all MTSS initiatives.
• Monitor school and district data (e.g. NWEA, Fountas and Pinnel, Delta) to track student needs related to academics.
• Attend School Improvement meetings.
• Serves on the District Continuous Improvement Team.
• Maintains regular, consistent, and timely attendance.
• Demonstrates knowledge of best practices in the classroom.
• Demonstrates knowledge of coaching techniques (content literacy, cognitive, peer, instructional).
• Demonstrates knowledge in pulling building wide data to support teachers with data digs.
• Works collaboratively with Associate Superintendent of School Improvement, building principal, and teachers to implement best practices in the classroom.
• Demonstrates to teachers how to integrate literacy and writing strategies into all content areas.
• Demonstrates modeling, co-teaching, and feedback support.
• Experience in developing and monitoring School Improvement Plans.
• Preferred training on how to differentiate instruction.
• Demonstrate experience in coaching teachers and working collaboratively with a school team and district team.
• Interacts with students and staff in a positive manner, demonstrating respect for individual differences.
• Works in a cooperative and professional manner with colleagues.
• Communicates effectively with parents and staff.
• Maintains, promotes, and implements building goals, objectives, and procedures.
• Attends School Improvement meetings as needed to assist with data collection and interpretation of appropriate data.
• Assists classroom teachers and administrators with parent involvement where appropriate.
• Helps staff learn how to use and incorporate reading and writing strategies and methods into the district curriculum.
• Maintains documentation of the work as a coach.
• Provides ongoing and large group training for staff as needed.
• Maintain a schedule approved by the Associate Superintendent of School Improvement.
• Work cooperatively with all staff in order to best meet the needs of the students.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of bachelor's degree.
• Must be qualified according to Michigan Dept. of Education criteria; demonstrate proficiency in all areas of reading instruction and assessment.
• Show evidence of successful, varied classroom teacher experiences. (10+ years of experience desired).
• Ability to analyze data to drive instructional practice.
• Demonstrate proficiency in developing/monitoring inventions plans, etc.
• Ability to work well with students, staff members, and parents.
• Ability to demonstrate mature judgment and moral and ethical behavior.
• Ability to project a positive outlook, manner, and appearance.
• Demonstrates the physical and psychological capacity for the demands of the teaching assignment/coaching assignment.
