Music Ed Assistant/Accompanist

Up to 35 hours a week School-Year/Full-Time
Qualifications:
- Advanced piano skills
- Advanced music theory
- Vocal technique preferred
- Sight reading, conducting, transposing, arranging and coaching skills
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist the teacher in a music classroom - ability to play the piano for class and performance
- Under the direction of the vocal music teacher, accompany school choirs during rehearsals, concerts, assist the director in the leading of section rehearsals and concerts, and the coaching of the individuals, small ensembles and instrumentalist with the school system
- Perform piano accompaniment of practice rehearsals, and performances for the middle school choirs. This includes concerts, in addition to District/State Choral Festival, Jazz Festival, Solo & Ensembles, as well as other opportunities that may be available for students
- Lead section rehearsals by playing parts, identifying student areas for growth, vocal modeling for proper technique, correcting mistakes and providing the right notes and rhythms
- Coach solos and ensembles by arranging or transposing music, teaching note and rhythm, recognizing and resolving intonation problems, teaching healthy vocal techniques, providing suggestions regarding interpretation of music and encouraging students
- Provide assistance to substitute teachers by leading rehearsals as necessary

Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers - The worker is subject to environmental conditions. The worker should provide consistent and reliable in person attendance.
