Job DescriptionThe Department of Psychology at Hope College seeks applicants foran open-rank, tenure-track professor position beginning by Fall
2027. Primary teaching responsibilities would be in the area of cognitive psychology. Additional teaching responsibilities could include Introduction to Psychology, Introduction to Neuroscience,Research Methods courses, seminar courses within one’s area ofpsychology, or a course integrating diversity and equity issues.
The standard teaching load is three courses per semester, typically with two preparations per semester. A research program involvingundergraduates is an important component of this position. Wewelcome innovative teacher-scholars who will integrate research with teaching. We especially seek applicants who have demonstrated experience effectively working with ethnically and otherunderrepresented students.
Hope’s Psychology Department is a collegial faculty community and anational leader in faculty-student collaborative research locatedin a beautiful midwestern community. We seek candidates with aresearch program that will engage undergraduates. Start-up fundsfor research are available, and Hope College offers opportunities for internal research support and assistance in seeking external funding. The Psychology Department at Hope College has 13tenured/tenure-track faculty and graduates about 90 majors peryear.
The Psychology Department also contributes to Hope College’sneuroscience, global health, American ethnic studies, peace andjustice, and women’s and gender studies programs.

QualificationsApplicants ideally will have a completed PhD in psychology or arelated field by August 2027.
