Job Title: Part-Time Evening HVAC Instructor

Location: Thompson M-TEC (Michigan Technical Education Center)
This position will be hired through Edu Staff.

Job Type: Part-time, Evenings

Schedule: 2 nights per week, 4 hours per night

Pay: Starting at $45.00/hour

About the Role

M-TEC is seeking an experienced HVAC professional to join our team as a part-time evening instructor. In this role, you'll teach adult students the practical and technical skills needed to succeed in the HVAC/R trade, drawing on your real-world industry experience to prepare the next generation of technicians.

• Deliver evening instruction covering residential and commercial HVAC systems
• Teach refrigeration principles, theory, and hands‑on practices
• Prepare students for and administer training toward EPA Section 608 Certification
• Develop and deliver lesson plans, demonstrations, and hands‑on lab exercises
• Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback
• Maintain a safe, organized training/lab environment
• Stay current with industry codes, standards, and best practices

• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in the HVAC industry
• Strong working knowledge of residential and commercial HVAC systems
• Refrigeration systems experience required
• EPA 608 Certification (or ability to obtain) preferred/required
• Prior teaching, training, or mentoring experience a plus, but not required
• Strong communication skills and a passion for teaching others
• Reliable evening availability, 2 nights/week (4 hours/night)

Compensation

Starting at $45/hour, commensurate with experience
