Job Responsibilities:
JOB SUMMARY:
A Manufacturing Engineering Intern at Magna Engineered Glass will play a pivotal role in the engineering team, concentrating on corrective actions, process enhancements, and providing support across various facets of operations.
This internship offers a hands-on experience, actively engaging in diverse projects and contributing to the overarching success of Magna's processes.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Process Optimization:
* Analyze and optimize assembly and automation processes to improve efficiency, reduce cycle times, and enhance throughput.
* Implement best practices to improve product quality, consistency, and process reliability.
Continuous Improvement & Special Projects:
* Create and implement Autonomous Maintenance programs to support equipment reliability and operator ownership.
* Develop robot roadmaps to support quality, preventive maintenance, and long-term automation planning.
* Digitize chemical weight logs and implement tracking systems to improve accuracy, traceability, and compliance.
* Create, review, and maintain spare parts lists for assembly cells to improve uptime and maintenance efficiency.
* Design and implement QR asset tagging to enhance equipment tracking, maintenance workflows, and data visibility.
* Input and manage error-proofing devices in the CMMS system to support tracking, certification, and preventive maintenance.
* Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and implement innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
Troubleshooting & Problem Solving:
* Investigate and resolve issues related to assembly and automation processes, including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
Collaboration & Communication:
* Work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, quality, maintenance, and production, to develop and improve robust manufacturing processes.
* Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals.
* Actively contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment, demonstrating flexibility to adapt to evolving business needs and priorities.
REQUIREMENTS:
* Currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Controls Engineering or a related field.
* Proficient Computer knowledge and skills, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
* Professional Communication skills (written and verbal).
* Strong technical and analytical competence in select areas of technology.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
* Knowledge of safety standards and protocols in manufacturing environments.
* English proficiency required, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
* Office Environment: 40%
* Plant Environment: 60%
* The employee must be able to tolerate sitting/standing for extended periods of time.
* It requires (Near/Far/Depth/Color) vision in order to be able to tolerate the eye strain associated with working on a computer throughout the workday.
* Must be able to tolerate the use of a keyboard and mouse on average of 4 hours per workday.
* While working in the Plant environment, the employee will be exposed to machinery, moving equipment and material, moderate noise, airborne particles, fumes, and various levels of temperature created by the manufacturing process.
* This role operates primarily in manufacturing facility. Occasional travel may be required to attend meetings, visit clients, or other specific purposes.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
* Prolonged standing at least 8 hours, but up to 12 hours per day.
* Lift objects weighing up to 35 pounds multiple times per hour.
* Repetitive bending, twisting, turning, lifting.
* Repetitive use of hands, including gripping, grasping, pinching, squeezing.
