Associate Designer - Porter Corp

Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to provide the design, detailing and Bill of Materials for fabrication drawing packages. This position is called upon to take the sales orders, building attributes and engineering calculations to formulate the drafting & design of the submittal/installation drawings as well as the fabrication part drawings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for preparing installation instructions, finalizing project specific designs, detail drafting and preparation of bills of materials

Drawings are created using Solid Works software

Responsible for reviewing engineering calculations and supporting documentation to ensure the final design meets the customer's requirements

Interface with Project Engineers, Designers and Manufacturing for collaboration on final product design

Apply all engineering specifications and procedures that are to be used on all Porter Corp projects

Utilize the customer requirements, engineering calculation, and engineered drawings to provide correct and accurate fabrication drawings and installation instructions

Create accurate Bill of Materials for manufacturing

Apply all drafting, design and CAD procedures as required to develop the project drawings

Provide help to other Designers as required to get a project completed in a timely manner

Provide installation drawings as well as the part fabrication drawings on schedule as dictated by customer requirements

Education and/or Experience

• An Associate's degree or engineering technology degree

Travel

• This position requires minimal to no travel

Language Skills

• Demonstrated proficiency with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access
• This position requires proficiency in Solid Works solid modeling using both Part/Assembly and Weldment modeling methods

Reasoning Ability

Knowledge in detailing procedures

Capable of working in a fast-paced production environment

Highly self-motivated to take action and keep projects moving forward

Computer Skills

• Demonstrated proficiency with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access
