The Commercial Loan Assistant is responsible for assisting the Loan Officer with the loan application, documentation, and servicing processes. In addition, they are accountable for resolving potential problems in loan processing and interacting with internal and external customers/vendors as necessary. The primary responsibility of the Commercial Loan Assistant is to be the liaison between the commercial lending staff and the loan operations (processing) staff to ensure the timely and accurate documentation of new loans, renewals and extensions, and to rectify any problems impacting commercial loan customers.
The Commercial Loan Assistant position requires gathering items for audits and reviews as it relates to this position and working with the Loan Processing Team to achieve complete and accurate files.
- Follow federal regulation and related internal procedures
- Attain a working knowledge of the loan policy, in respect to lending limits and approval requirements
- Participate in conversations with assigned lenders to get an understanding of the loans that will be coming through for processing; insight on upcoming workload and organization are key and will benefit the lender and the processing team as the loan moves through the system for completion
- Build physical file and scan all information received into Synergy
- Use department checklists to gather complete and accurate information for new and existing loans by working with the lenders, third party vendors and the customers to obtain the necessary documentation in order to proceed and send approvals through the Loan Processing Department
- Maintain loan tracking reports per loan assistant
- Review closing documents prior to loan funding to ensure any pending items are addressed and then, prepare and process the funding transactions and recording transactions as needed
- Assist with resolving loan exceptions such as final title policies, etc.
- Assist with issuing payoff letters
- Assist with payments, draws and transfers
- Assist with lenders with releases of liens and paid off files
- Maintain communication with the loan processing group and any other interested parties related to the loan
- Assist commercial lenders in remaining aware of loans due to mature within the next 30 – 90 days
- Other duties assigned by management
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years experience in this or a similar role
