Overview
Under the general direction of the Technology Services Manager and the Assistant City Manager. Provides PC and technology support for the City of Holland. Maintains various hardware and software systems and provides software support and training for users.
Responsibilities- Provides technical support for the City of Holland hardware and software systems. Hardware support includes the setting up of new equipment, troubleshooting problems and replacement of components. Software support includes new installations, routine maintenance, and upgrades.
- Provides computer-related training to City employees in various applications, including Office 365, email vulnerabilities, and other technologies on a routine basis.
- Manage/process work orders through the City’s ticketing system. Accurately keeping track of time and tasks completed on work requests and projects.
- Responsible for the inventory of PCs/laptops and other peripheral devices.
- Assists with Active Directory tasks while also monitoring cloud-based environments including but not limited to Office 365 and cybersecurity threat feeds via the City’s SOC-as-a-Service (SOCaaS).
- Manages user accounts and access to various applications within the environment including the City website. Assist in maintaining the department’s Cisco VoIP phone system and acts as liaison between the department and the maintenance provider.
- Communicates with various vendors to coordinate additional IT support or escalation when needed.
- Responsible for the installation and monitoring of City surveillance and security cameras and DVRs.
- Assists other Technology Staff with Network related issues.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
- Two to four years of experience working with PCs, including networking, database maintenance, and training for PC users.
- Completion of an A+ Certification from CompTIA preferred.
- Interpersonal skills are necessary to communicate with City officials and staff in the exchange of information.
- Mental ability to frequently handle pressures related to simultaneously managing multiple projects.
- Physical ability to occasionally lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Normal office environment with occasional discomfort due to fumes, odors, dust, dirt, noise, and similar conditions.
