Request Foods is seeking a Senior Manager of Maintenance that provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all maintenance functions across a multi‑facility food manufacturing organization. This role is responsible for ensuring equipment reliability, operational uptime, preventive and predictive maintenance execution, regulatory compliance, and technical support for production, utilities, and facility systems. The Sr. Manager drives maintenance excellence through team development, data‑driven reliability practices, and strong cross‑functional partnerships.
MaintenanceLeadership & Strategy
- Oversee maintenance operations across multiple facilities, ensuring consistent execution of maintenance standards, policies, and best practices.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance strategy that promotes reliability, safety, food safety, and cost efficiency.
- Lead, coach, and develop maintenance managers, supervisors, technicians, and planners across all sites.
- Establish and enforce performance metrics (KPIs) related to equipment uptime, PM/PDM completion, work order execution, and cost control.
- Ensure reliable performance of production equipment, packaging lines, utilities, HVAC, boilers, air compressors, refrigeration systems, and facility infrastructure.
- Oversee root‑cause analysis efforts for major downtime events and champion corrective action implementation.
- Utilize predictive maintenance technologies (vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, etc.) to minimize unplanned downtime.
- Partner with Engineering on equipment upgrades, line optimization, and technology integration.
- Own the organization’s CMMS program, ensuring consistent use, accurate data entry, and actionable reporting.
- Develop PM and PDM schedules that reflect manufacturer recommendations and internal reliability standards.
- Standardize maintenance procedures, parts management processes, and documentation across all facilities.
- Ensure maintenance activities comply with FDA, USDA, OSHA, EPA, GFSI/SQF/BRC, and internal audit standards.
- Collaborate with Quality and EHS teams to maintain sanitation equipment readiness, safe machine design, and hygienic zoning.
- Enforce Lockout/Tagout, machine guarding, hot work, and confined space requirements.
- Ensure maintenance staff training meets regulatory and corporate standards.
- Lead multi‑facility capital planning for mechanical, utility, and infrastructure improvements.
- Manage project execution including vendor selection, budgeting, installation, commissioning, and validation.
- Work closely with cross‑functional teams to support expansions, new lines, and major technical initiatives.
- Prepare and manage annual maintenance budgets, including labor, parts, contractors, utilities, and capital expenditures.
- Drive cost‑reduction efforts through reliability improvements, vendor negotiations, and optimized maintenance practices.
- Oversee inventory control processes and ensure efficient spare parts management across sites.
- Partner with Operations, Engineering, Sanitation, Quality, Facilities, and People Services teams to support production goals.
- Participate in corporate leadership discussions related to capacity planning, production strategy, and facility development.
- Support sustainability initiatives focused on energy efficiency, waste reduction, and water conservation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Maintenance Management, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- 10+ years of maintenance leadership experience in food manufacturing or a similar regulated environment.
- Experience leading multi‑site maintenance teams strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of CMMS systems, reliability engineering principles, and asset management.
- Proven track record of reducing downtime and improving equipment reliability.
- Knowledge of GMPs, food safety standards, OSHA/EPA regulations, and industrial safety practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and change‑management skills.
