The Production Planner ensures constraint optimization and material availability across assigned manufacturing sites to maximize order fulfillment. This role manages inventory allocation and balances customer demand with plant capacity using advanced planning systems and lean methodologies.
Core Responsibilities- Scheduling & Capacity Planning:
Develop and execute production schedules, workflow sequences, and labor forecasts to meet fabrication and assembly timelines. - Inventory & Exception Management:
Monitor work center alerts, manage backlogs, and address material shortages or interplant order issues. - System Management:
Leverage ERP systems (SAP/MRP) and replenishment models (Make To Stock, safety stock) to manage multiple resource calendars and ensure seamless delivery. - Continuous Improvement:
Participate in lean initiatives to eliminate process waste and proactively mitigate nonconformance risks. - Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner frequently with internal teams—including Manufacturing, Engineering, Procurement, Quality, and Customer Service—to communicate delivery impacts.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or equivalent combined education and work experience. - Experience:
Minimum of 3 years in production planning, product modeling, or inventory management. Experience in automotive, electronics, or furniture manufacturing environments is preferred. - Technical
Skills:
* Demonstrated proficiency with ERP and MRP systems. Experience with SAP ERP (APO, PPDS, ECC) and advanced spreadsheet mechanics is highly preferred. - Knowledge of Just-In-Time (JIT), Available-To-Promise (ATP), and Theory of Constraints concepts.
- Core Competencies:
Strong mathematical and analytical skills, cost-benefit analysis capabilities, and excellent verbal/written communication skills to interface with all levels of management.
