We are currently looking for a Sewer/Upholsterer to join our team in Holland, MI on 2nd shift.

2nd shift schedule is from 2:00 pm–10:00 pm, Monday‑Friday. OT schedule is from 2:00 pm–12:00 am, Monday‑Friday and potential Saturdays from 2:00 pm–10:00 pm. Training is on 1st shift from 5:30 am–2:00 pm, Monday‑Friday.

• Perform complex set‑ups, operate and adjust various sewing machines, practice machine preventive maintenance and general utility work to meet the work schedule.
• Upholster seats, backs, arms, and outers for seating, ottomans and other cushioned products, utilizing Haworth and specially ordered customer fabric, leather, and vinyl. Manually position fabrics to appropriate parts, form edges, and attach fabric with staples or glue gun as prescribed.
• Inspect fabric and parts per quality specifications.
• Use appropriate sewing machine(s) to create assembled materials used to upholster products.
• Use proper molds, presses, and tools such as heat knives, steamer and hole burner to meet production requirements, continuously pulling, pushing, and tugging materials and staples/glues into place.
• Reference material labels and verify against production tickets, ensuring pieces are upholstered per order specifications.
• Inspect all upholstered parts for fabric flaws, weave alignment, seam position, proper alignment of glued subassembly, and correct contours and shade, ensuring Haworth quality specifications are met.
• Monitor the material flow and update the electronic production system accordingly.
• Verify accuracy of orders and Bills of Materials (BOMs); report discrepancies to appropriate parties.
• Assemble final product with drills and hand tools.
• Rotate through department work centers based on business need.
• Work overtime as needed.
• Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

• 2 years of manufacturing experience
• 6 months of sewing/upholstery experience
• Ability to obtain and maintain powered industrial truck (HILO) certification
• Ability to lift/move products weighing up to 50 pounds
• Current and continuing right to work in the United States without sponsorship
• Ability to flex work schedule and overtime may be required including weekends and/or holidays per business demands
• 8th grade education
• Ability to work in Holland, MI without relocation assistance

• Ability to utilize appropriate electronic production system to complete job duties, along with technology tools such as personal computer (PC), tablet, keyboard, mouse, RF gun.
• Ability to utilize precision measuring instruments.
• Ability to sew fabrics, vinyl, and leather for upholstered furniture.
• Ability to continuously pull, push, and tug material, equivalent to 10‑ to 24‑pound lift, and fasten into place.
• Ability to use basic hand, air, cordless, and/or electric tools.
• Requires fine motor skills.
• Excellent vision and color perception are essential.
