Responsibilities:
Set up and operate machine tools such as mills, lathes, grinders, and drill press. Read blueprints and machines metallic and nonmetallic parts to print tolerances. Calculate feeds and speeds, adjusts for cutting conditions to optimize processing. Import CAD data and use CAM software to program CNC machining centers. Perform preventative maintenance on machines and maintains the housekeeping of the work area to the 5S shop standard.
Promote teamwork for problem solving. Mentor entry level machinists and machining apprentices to develop their machining skills. Complete jobs according to the machining schedule to ensure on time delivery. Adapt and respond quickly to unplanned jobs to meet customer needs. Clearly communicate technical information to other machinists and managers.
Requirements: 2-4 years prior industrial experience preferred. Completed 4-year apprenticeship program, or 16,000 hours combined education and experience as a minimum. Trained to run typical shop equipment such as lathe, mill, grinder, and drill press. Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, and One Note.
Education requirements:
High school graduate or equivalent required. Related vocational education preferred.
