The Medication Technician (Med Tech) is responsible for the accurate and timely administration of medications and treatments to residents in accordance with physician orders. This position also provides resident support services as directed in individual service plans and communicates medication-related concerns to physicians and leadership as appropriate.
Qualifications- Successful completion of medication administration training, including documentation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medication identification, purpose, use, adverse effects, and contraindications.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
- Ability to perform essential job functions physically and mentally.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physician orders.
- Accurately document all medication and treatment administration.
- Document events and incidents in resident records.
- Provide complete summary documentation as required.
- Provide direct care and resident support services as needed.
- Communicate appropriately with residents, family members, physicians, support staff, and ancillary care providers.
- Observe residents for changes in condition and report concerns as required.
- Comply with infection control protocols and safety procedures.
Appledorn Assisted Living Center South is licensed by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services as a Home for the Aged.
