Job Overview
Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) in Bio Life Plasma Services, a subsidiary of Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Ltd., reporting to the Plasma Center Manager. The role involves determining donor eligibility, managing adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and ensuring donor safety and compliance with industry regulations.
Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility to donate plasma, including proper management of informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
- Manage donor adverse events and review laboratory test results, notifying donors of unsuitable test results.
- Evaluate donor reactions at the facility as outlined in SOPs and follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of Center Physician’s standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance concerning medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
- Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
- Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER, referencing EHS guidance regarding employee incidents.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations of pandemic threats within the local community per EHS or Medical Affairs.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT‑Paramedic.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Successfully complete FDA‑approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
