Occupational Health & Safety, Regulatory Compliance Specialist
We are seeking a highly experienced USA Process Safety Manager to serve as a key member of our U.S. Safety Team. This role will be based at our Holland, Michigan site and will be responsible for overseeing designated high-risk facilities, with a primary focus on Process Safety and Warehouse Safety Governance. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience and expertise in managing safety programs and governance frameworks within high-risk operational environments.
Aboutthe Role
This role serves as the Process Safety & Safety Manager for client warehouses and storage facilities utilizing high-risk manufacturing logistics and specialty gas storage operations, including chemical and battery manufacturing clients. Reports directly to the Head of Safety at NJ HQ.
1. Hands-On OSHA Inspection & Regulatory Defense- Lead real-time OSHA on-site inspections (Opening/Closing conferences, walkthroughs, employee interviews, document submissions)
- Author formal, defense-ready written responses and corrective actions (CAP) for OSHA Complaint Letters and Inquiries to mitigate citation risks and maintain Zero NOVs.
- Enforce all 14 elements on OSHA PSM (29 CFR ) and EPA RMP Level 3 across chemical, battery, and gas storage/warehouse operations.
- Maintain written safety programs, PHA, MOC, and PSSR documentation.
- Conduct comprehensive pre-launch risk assessments for new client accounts and warehouse/storage facility openings.
- Align chemical safety, SDS governance, and spill response controls with client EHS counterpart prior to live operations.
- Enforce strict end-of-shift daily incident/near-miss reporting.
- Conduct root cause analysis and deliver targeted preventive safety training.
- Host weekly alignment meetings with site safety coordinators and direct monthly Safety Committees alongside warehouse management and HR.
- Serve as primary contact for LEPC, local site fire departments, and regulatory bodies for joint emergency response.
- OSHA Defense Experience - Direct hands-on experience hosting live OSHA on-site audits and authoring formal written response letters to OSHA Complaint Inquiries
- Experience 8+ years of dedicated PSM and EHS in chemical, gas, battery, or heavy manufacturing/logistics environments.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, EHS, or related engineering field
- Apex Certification - CSP(Certified Safety Professional), CIH(Certified Industrial Hygienist), or equivalent credential.
