As a Lead Diesel Technician, you will play a key role in maintaining and repairing a variety of heavy-duty trucks, ensuring safety and reliability for our customers. This second shift position offers a consistent 4-day work week (Monday-Thursday, 10-hour shifts), opportunities for professional growth, and a supportive environment that values passion, trustworthiness, and teamwork.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair issues related to brake, air systems, electrical, HVAC, drive train and transmission, engine and exhaust, suspension, and steering systems.
  • Engage with external manufacturers and warranty contacts to maximize reimbursement for services performed.
  • Participate in annual training from Navistar and Cummins to stay current with industry standards and best practices.
  • Complete repair orders efficiently and accurately, following dealership and factory guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the parts department to obtain necessary components for repairs.
  • Save and tag parts for warranty claims or customer requests as needed.
  • Inspect vehicles to identify additional safety or service needs and communicate findings promptly.
  • Work closely with service advisors to update on additional work requirements, changes, or delays.
  • Document all work performed and recommendations on repair orders.
  • Conduct road tests to verify the quality of repairs when required.
  • Stay informed on manufacturer technical bulletins and updates.
  • Report any equipment defects or malfunctions to supervisors.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop and vehicles.
  • Be responsible for dealership-owned tools and manuals, ensuring proper use and return.
  • Comply with all federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations.
  • Operate all tools and equipment safely and report any safety concerns immediately.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in diesel technology or a related field.
  • Possession of all State of Michigan HDT repair certifications.
